RE: latte peel
Hi
I don't fragrance any products. What you smell is naturally derived botanicals in the latte cream base and the compound reaction to adding the triple acetic solution.
Fragrances tend to interfere with the strength and performance of skincare products.
To me, the smell is medicinal,. like baby asprin,. everyones sniffer is not the same though.
The only red flag in skin care should be rancid smells or foul smell. Some home bottlers who use a very caustic grade of TCA use tap water to dilute it. TAP water contains high levels of copper, zinc and trace chemicals,. and usually a high amount of soluable cholorine. MIXING tca with tap water will eventually produce a foul odor, like rotton eggs.
The only dilution that is acceptable for tca is deionized water, or water that is pure distillation,. HOWEVER new data with using acidic water,. 2% called 'beauty water', is showing to be the rage in skin care. The only machine that I know of that produces this is called KANGAN WATER,.
I own a kangan water machine and use HIGH ALKALINE and ACID water in the compounding of all of my bases. Maybe its my best kept secret? Who knows.. I can say that it makes a HUGE difference in my prepared products!!!
So don't worry about Latte that doesn't smell like a fresh mowed meadow. Its not a face cream...its an aesthetic peel for rapid exfoliation.
Take Care
Julie
